GETTING STARTED
To drive legally in Illinois, you must have a valid driver’s license, instruction permit, Restricted Driving Permit or Judicial Driving Permit.

The first step of getting you behind the wheel in a state of Illinois is to obtain an instruction permit. To receive an Illinois instruction permit, individuals must appear in person at a driver services facility and provide acceptable form of identification to prove name, date of birth, Illinois residency, Social Security number and signature for comparison. When you apply for your instruction permit, you must pass the vision screening and the appropriate written test for the classification you are seeking. The instruction permit is valid for 12 months and must be carried with you at all times during your driving classes. Need more information click here.
